Clyde Windows & Construction Ltd. Have the solution with No planning permission required and no building warrants required.

Is your conservatory too cold in the winter?

In recent years many conservatory owners have called us to say “ our conservatory is far too hot in the summer and far too cold in the winter to be comfortable and that they wish to have a conservatory roof conversion or convert the conservatory roof , we love using our conservatory and wish we could use our conservatory 365 days of the year but its impossible” Well Clyde Windows & Construction now have a conservatory conversion solution to a problem which is the same all over Scotland for tens of thousands of people.

So how does it work?

We can insulate your existing conservatory roof turning it into a usable room to allow comfortable all year round uses, the process from start to finish is minimal. We can typically convert any conservatory in less than a day!

In the summer, similar to a solid roof conversion, direct sunlight from the roof is blocked preventing uncomfortable /unbearable overheating.

In the winter as the heat in your conservatory rises to the roof the multi layer insulation prevents heat loss.

We fit an insulation which is  ultra-thin, multi-reflective with 4 layers of aluminium multi-layer insulation material which is thermally-welded across all its surfaces.

  1. A film of pure aluminium, 30 microns thick, treated against oxidation
  2. A layer of bubbles of dry air enclosed in self-extinguishing polyethylene
  3. A film of pure aluminium treated against oxidation
  4. A foam of fire-retarding and waterproofed polyethylene
  5. A film of pure aluminium treated against oxidation
  6. A layer of bubbles of dry air enclosed in self-extinguishing polyethylene
  7. A film of pure aluminium, 30 microns thick, treated against oxidation

The air trapped in the bubble film and polyethylene foam is dry and stable. Possible condensation is therefore always avoided within the usual range of temperatures for these type of insulations.

U-Value of less than 0.5 W/m2K

See the table below which outlines the U-Value each of the materials below provides: Remember the lower the U-Value the better

Sounds Expensive How much does it cost?

Insulating your existing conservatory roof costs a fraction of replacing your entire roof in comparison to a solid roof conversionin some case as much as 10 times less, prices vary dependant on the size of your conservatory. If you are on a tight budget then roof insulation may be the way forward.

The Clyde Windows Conservatory roof insulation costs a fraction of what it costs to replace roof panels or carry out a solid roof conversion in some case as much as 10 times less, prices vary dependant on the size of your conservatory.

Outside Noise Reduction

The insulation not only acts as a barrier for thermal heat loss and stops direct sunlight it also acts as a sound barrier, greatly reducing outside noise. This means you can relax in your conservatory make and take phone calls without distracting background noise. Enjoy the area without outside traffic or neighbours noise interrupting your favourite TV programmes.

Thermal Insulation

Possibly the biggest benefit of all, stopping the green house effect in the summer means that you can enjoy and use your conservatory space even in the peak of summer.

Our highly efficient thermal insulation will stop heat loss in the winter giving all the family a warm place to play, dine, watch or just relax with a little peace and quiet.

Light and Spacious

Although there will be some reduction in natural light, our insulation is then covered with a brilliant white internal UPVC finish which bounces natural light during the day and internal lights can be fitted for a warm and cosy feel at night.

The process and the ultra thin material we use to insulate your roof means ther almost no reduction in ceiling height. This means there is no loss of useable space.

Fast and Hassle Free

Our roof insulation system requires no planning permission and does not alter the structure of your existing conservatory. This means that we can start work straight away and installation in most cases takes less than a day. This means that you can begin enjoy use of your space again as quickly as possible.

People who find that their conservatory is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter often use it for just small spells throughout the year. Missing out on the potential of an all-year-round room, well now if you have a conservatory roof converted you can use it for 365 days comfortably.

Why not request a free quote or call back for more information?

Here is why you have the problem.

Check the list below to see what “U Value” ( insulation quality ) you currently have on your existing conservatory roof and this may explain why its too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter and then see below the “U Value “ that you could have in your conservatory no matter how old your conservatory is

The lower the number the better insulated your roof is, low is best!

  • 16mm polycarbonate built between 1984 - 2006 insulation value for this roof max 2.3 Wm/k2
  • 20mm polycarbonate built between 1998 - 2003 insulation value for this roof max 2 Wm/k2
  • 25mm polycarbonate built between 2002 - 2012 insulation value for this roof max 1.7 Wm/k2
  • 35mm polycarbonate built between 2010 - 2012 insulation value for this roof max 1.4 Wm/k2

Experts have spent many years investigating conservatory temperatures and have scientifically calculated what is the most comfortable temperature in your home and came up with a U Value of 0.8 Wm/k2 as the ideal insulation value of a conservatory

So how do you feel now that you know there is a roof that can be put on your current conservatory door and window frames to give you that 365 days all year round comfortable use

Call now for your free thermal efficiency survey and free quotation and let us get you comfortably using your conservatory for 365 days of the year.
